The Steps of Creating Optimal Social Media Content
Step #1: Find your niche and audience that will care. As I’ve mentioned previously on the blog, you don’t necessarily have to close yourself into a box and pick one niche. But it’s still important to pick a couple specific things that maybe you have expert knowledge on to build your overall brand and content strategy on. In order to find your niche, do some self reflection and figure out what you have skills in, what you’re most interested in, and what you have the most knowledge and experience in. For example, if you happen to be someone who loves boots but you’re shorter and have wider calves, you can showcase your journey of finding the perfect fit and make styling suggestions based on your findings. This can be the main focus, but you can still Incorporate other topics you love such as wellness or beauty. Once you’ve gained traction, people who follow you and love your content will likely want your opinion on other topics anyways.
Step #2: Research different platforms and choose the ones that will be best-suited to your content. Based on what I’ve observed, TikTok and Instagram are by far the most popular social media platforms. But don’t forget about utilizing Pinterest and LTK In addition to help boost your chances of reaching more of an audience and monetizing your content. And utilizing Pinterest to conect blog content is also a great venture. If you’re someone who is ready to and feels comfortable with taking videos, building your content on TikTok’s platform is a great option, and utilizing Instagram for focusing on photo and maybe longer captions will make more sense. Be sure to learn how different content performs on each platform of interest and study how similar creators are performing as well.
Step #3: It’s time to plan and create your content once deciding on which platform to use. Creating content to gain a loyal following means planning posts in order to see growth. It’s possible to balance authenticity with good planning and creating a schedule to post. If you’re creating a career based on posting content, treat it like it’s a regular job and stay organized. Determine which days and times are optimal for posting content on each platform. From there, make an effort to create high-qualiity content that’s reflective of your brand. CapCut is great for editing TikTok videos, Canva helps with long-form written content and graphics, and your phone can work just fine for capturing photos and videos. I even use the photo editor right on my iPhone to enhance my photos.
Step #4: Build a relationship with your audience and engage with them. The whole point of social media is to bring people of similar interests together In one place. When people start to comment on and like your photos, respond back! Show that you’re grateful for their interest and support to increase loyalty. Interact with other creators who post similar content as you in order to bond with them and get noticed by their audience as well. Comment, share, and like up a storm!
Step #5: The last and final part of the equation is to analyze and track your progress in order to evolve and grow as a creator. Be sure that your platforms are equipped with business insights and always pay attention to the results of your posts. This is how you’ll know what content is working for you and what isn’t.
This wraps up the guide on how to create social media content. Always remember: be authentic, consistent, and engaging. But most importantly, be patient! When you put in the work, the rest will follow, literally.
